Updates
Our readers shouldn’t be surprised by the recent moves: equities were (and still are) overvalued by 30-50%, the euro is still overvalued, and our metals have held up OK (gold and silver have done better for us than platinum and palladium). What is a bit surprising is the incredible strength in the yen and treasuries. I believe this is only temporary as investors rush out of euro-denominated assets. While it’s a little too early to add to our short yen and short treasury positions, I believe that the fundamentals continue to support them, with Japan being incredibly vulnerable once the unwinding of carry trades ends. So for now, we wait.
